If you’ve ever seen the movie Firestarter, you’ve seen what pyrokinesis is, and the cool yet terrifying effects it can have. In the movie, Drew Barrymore has the unique psychic ability that allows her to create fire, sometimes even hold it, and manipulate it to make it do what she wants it to do. That’s exactly what pyrokinesis is. Pyrokinesis is the ability to make fire, and control it so that you can even move it and hold it.

How it Works

When a pyrokinetic wants to create fire or set something on fire, they will usually concentrate and meditate on the area or object very hard. They will block everything else out and focus only on creating fire. As they do this, the temperature will slowly go up. It will get hotter both inside the object and in the air surrounding it. So if you’re in the presence of a pyrokinetic who’s in the midst of the process, you’ll probably feel it get hotter in the room. Once the interior of the object has become hot enough, it will burst into flames.

Being a Pyrokinetic

Being a pyrokinetic is having the ability to make and control fire. The skill can be acquired and if one has the gift already, it can be nurtured and guided in the right direction. This is important because if one has the gift but no control over it, they could find themselves accidentally starting fires, with catastrophic results. In order to acquire the skill, it’s helpful if the person already has another kind of psychic gift, but that too is a skill that can be acquired and tuned.

One way to start honing in on your pyrokinetic skill is to light a candle and sit comfortably. Focus on the candle and try to guide the flame towards you. This is a skill that’s a stepping stone to becoming a pyrokinetic and takes a great deal of determination, focus, and patience to acquire.

Of all the powers that someone could possess, one of the powers that fascinates countless people is pyrokinesis. With this type of power, it would be possible for someone to start a fire whenever they wanted. While this type of power could do a lot of damage, there are also ways that it could be used for good. Because there are so many possibilities with pyrokinesis, it should come as no surprise that this is a topic that is explored in a wide range of books.

One of the most popular books related to pyrokinesis is Firestarter. The book was written by Stephen King and published in 1980. This book is centered around a couple named Andy and Charlene. Because both of these people have been given special abilities as a result of their participation in a classified study, their daughter is the one who found that she has the ability to create fires. The book deals with the couple’s struggle to escape from the people who are chasing them, as well as their daughter’s exploration of her power.

Pyrokinesis is also commonly seen in comic books. The best known example of a comic book character with this power is the Human Torch. Not only has the Human Torch appeared in countless comic books, but he was also in both of the hit Fantastic Four movies. Another comic book character with the power of pyrokinesis is Liz Sherman. This character appears in the Hellboy series of comics. Like the Human Torch, Liz Sherman was also depicted when Hellboy was made into a very popular movie.

Pyrokinesis Training

Mastering the art of fire isn’t an easy task. Unlike something like driving that you can learn over a period of a few years, learning how to manipulate fire in a controllable way can take decades. Because you never know what’s around any corner, you have to train for any and every possible outcome. Playing with fire is dangerous enough, but playing with fire and tempting fate is often considered to border on lunacy. So, how do you begin pyrokinesis training?

If you have a passion for playing with fire and dancing with danger, you can start by making your own fireballs at home. The basic idea behind making your own fireballs is to take a small piece of 100% cotton cloth and rolling it into a tight knit ball. Then, you add lighter fluid to the ball and soak it completely. Because of the way cotton burns, the ball itself will never actually catch fire and only the fuel around the ball will light. You can then juggle these luke warn balls around in your hands to impress your friends. If you really want to step it up to the next level, you can try applying to circus schools or clown schools that will teach you how to juggle fire and play with fire in ways you never could imagine. You may get hurt on your journey to pyrokinesis fame, but in the end it’s all worth it.
